Refurbishment

Following a recommendation from a previous client, one lady’s dream was to refurbish an old damp house by the lake near Mullingar.

She was initially daunted at the prospect, we calmly tailor-made an energy saving package to suit her budget.

Following our energy audit, her house was super-insulated and fitted with a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system.

She remarked "I thought I’d left the heating on, but when I checked the boiler, I couldn’t believe it was switched off. It was the airtightness of the house that had ensured minimal heat loss!"

We often get requests to refurbish old farm buildings and the like.

On one particular project, we listened carefully to the client’s plans for the building in question to restore it to its original condition.

Not only did we painstakingly re-point all of the stonework with lime mortar, but we also sourced as many old materials as possible to minimise the visual impact of the restored building.

The result was a completely original facade, with a modern fully-furnished living space created inside what had been a grain storage shed.
